Description

The ALFA R36AH v2 is a special high speed 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router with USB port that allows you to share the long range Wi-Fi connection of an ALFA Tube-UAC2 Dual Band Outdoor USB WiFi receiver, or it’s indoor version AWUS036ACHM.

Boost and share a 5 GHz WiFi signal, or a 2.4 GHz signal with multiple devices at once.

Perfect for extending a WiFi signal into an RV at a campground (additional components required). This device cannot repeat a WiFi signal without a compatible ALFA USB WiFi receiver.

ALFA R36AH v2 comes with firmware to support ALFA’s dual band WiFi receiver models Tube-UAC2 and AWUS036ACHM. This firmware is not compatible with the ALFA R36A routers.

To use this device to share a Wi-Fi signal, you will also need one of the above devices or an older model like Tube-UNA or AWUS036NH. Then simply connect your computer to the R36AH via ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection for a one-time configuration and setup. Connect the ALFA USB adapter to the R36AH, and using Wi-Fi scanning software built-into the R36AH, you can scan for and connect to available wireless networks in your area. Once the R36AH has connected to a network, you will be prompted to name and password protect your own new local Wi-Fi network, offering any device within a few hundred feet a strong Wi-Fi connection.

This is operating system independent and can be used with any computer or tablet with Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, or iPad/tablet.

Decent and capable little device, but needs to be flashed.

Ordered the R36AH to connect an Ethernet only device to a wifi network. With the current iteration of the web GUI included on the R36AH, this is not possible without installing an additional 5GHz radio via the USB port (no thanks). Flashed with OpenWRT 22.03.5 firmware and viola, works perfectly with the existing 2.4Ghz radio. If ALFA could fix their GUI to be able to connect as a client with the included radio, that would ideal. As it stands, the GUI keeps prompting you to install an additional radio and won't allow you to progress in the setup.
